A three-vehicle wreck in Live Oak County on Monday night left one man dead.

Three cars were traveling west, approximately seven miles from Three Rivers, on State Highway 72 on Monday evening.

According to Department of Public Safety Cpl. Charlie Ramirez, the vehicle in the lead, a 2009 Ford F-150, slowed in the main lane in order to turn left into a private drive. The vehicle following that one also slowed in the main lane.

The third vehicle, a 2002 Ford F-150, driven by Dennis Horn, failed to control speed and struck the middle stopped vehicle. The force from the crash caused the middle vehicle to hit the lead vehicle stopped in front of it.

Horn, 90, was transported to the hospital in Jourdanton and succumbed to his injuries, at approximately 8 p.m.

The female driver, Debra Ann Henderson, in the middle vehicle was transported to Christus Sphon Hospital Memorial in Corpus Christi with what the report called non-life-threatening injuries.

An update on her status was not available.

No injuries were listed for the woman in the lead vehicle.

The speed limit on SH 72 is 75 miles per hour.
