Lady Horns win two key district softball games

Three Rivers freshman Megan Cruz took the mound for the Lady Bulldogs in their game against the Lady Horns last week. The Lady Dogs came up short 2-6 and their district record fell to 2-5 for the season.

The George West Lady Horns softball won two key district games this past week. On Tuesday night they defeated the Three Rivers Lady Bulldogs by a score of 6-2. Both teams had great pitching and great defense. Maggie Ham pitched a complete game. She struck out 14 Lady Bulldogs. This brings her season strike out total to 274. The Lady Horns managed seven hits off the Lady Bulldogs. Savannah Franco was 2-4. She also scored two runs. Lacey Gee had a two RBI double. Maggie Ham also had a RBI double. Justine Troell scored two runs for the Lady Horns. It was a great game. The Lady Horns finished the first round of district undefeated.

The Lady Horns hosted the Freer Lady Bucs this past Friday and defeated them by a score of 10-0. Kayla Krietsch was a perfect 4-4 with two doubles and four RBI’s. Savannah Franco 2-4 with two runs scored. Hannah Iley scored two runs for the Lady Horns. Megan Hardwick, Justine Troell, Maggie Ham and Veronica Gutierrez each had base hits for the Lady Horns. Maggie Ham pitched an excellent game and improved her pitching record to 21-1 on the season. Hannah Iley, Shawna Talley, Megan Hardwick, Lacey Gee all had great defensive games. With the win, the Lady Horns improve to 22-2 overall and 7-0 in district. The Lady Horns will face second place Natalia on Thursday night in George West at 7 p.m. See you at the game!
