Lady Horns win key district game over Natalia

The George West Lady Horns softball team won a key district game over the second place Natalia Lady Mustangs. The Lady Horns won by a final score of 3-0.

Neither team could get much going offensively. Neither team scored through the first four innings. Megan Hardwick in the bottom of the 5th got a two out double and advanced to third base on an error. With a two strike count Savannah Franco lined a base hit to left field to score Hardwick for the game’s first run.

In the bottom of the 6th inning, Kayla Krietsch led off with a towering homerun to left center field. The Lady Horns final run came on a Maggie Ham double. Taylor McCumber pinch ran for Maggie and advanced to third base on a sacrifice bunt to Hannah Iley. Taylor then scored on a wild pitch.

Offensively, the Lady Horns were led by Megan Hardwick who was 2-3 with a double. Kayla Krietsch was 2-3 with a homerun. Maggie Ham was 1-3 with a double, Savannah Franco was 1-3, Hannah Iley and Veronica Gutierrez each had singles. Defensively, Maggie Ham struck out 14 and got her 300th strike out of the season. Lacey Gee, Shawna Talley, Justine Troell and Kayla Krietsch all had great defensive games.

With the win the Lady Horns improve to 23-2 on the season and 8-0 in district. Great job Lady Horns!
