BEEVILLE – The Bee County Sheriff’s Office is releasing little information regarding a Saturday afternoon fatal shooting incident on U.S. Highway 59, one mile west of the city.

Deputy Lt. Ronnie Jones released a brief comment on the incident saying, “On Jan. 4, 2014, at or about 3:48 p.m., deputies from the Bee County Sheriff’s Office were attempting to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle with a male subject driving.

“The male subject refused to stop and rammed a patrol unit, resulting in several shots being fired by law enforcement officials.

“This resulted in the death of the male subject. The Texas Rangers were called to the scene and are currently investigating the incident.”

One report indicated that law enforcement officers had been looking for the victim of the shooting earlier in the day following a domestic disturbance.

The Bee-Picayune will have further information regarding the incident as it becomes available.
