Three killed, two injured Saturday during two-vehicle collision in McMullen County

McMULLEN COUNTY — Three people were killed and two others injured early Saturday when an 18-wheel tractor trailer and a passenger car collided along Highway 72 — near Salley Disposal, authorities said.

McMullen County Justice of the Peace Deborah L. Garza pronounced the three people dead at the scene, according to officials.

One of the injured people was flown to an area hospital by helicopter ambulance, while the other taken by ground ambulance, immediate reports show.

Additionally, the car caught on fire as a result of the accident.

Authorities were on the scene of the accident for over nine hours. It occurred around 6 a.m.

No further information was immediately available Monday morning.
