Department of Public Safety troopers are helping out the community both on and off the highways.

The troopers will be playing against the George West seniors in a charity basketball game to benefit the LOC Boys and Girls Club.

Trooper Raul Garcia Jr. explained, “We want to pack the gym for the kids of Live Oak County.”

Coaching the George West seniors is Coach Shawn Alvarez.

“We are looking forward to a fun evening of basketball,” Alvarez said. “Practices have been intense,” he added.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Live Oak County.

Tickets will be sold for a drawing of several items, including a Yeti cooler. A concession stand will be available. Tickets to enter are $1 for students and $3 for adults.

There will also be a DJ with music. This is an event for the entire family to enjoy while supporting a local children’s organization.

The community is invited to show its support by attending the game on Wednesday, March 26, at 6 p.m. at the George West Gym.

To donate items for the drawing, email Coach Alvarez at
