The George West JV football team is off to an amazing year starting off the district season 1-0. Thursday night’s game against the Freer Buckaroos ended in the Longhorns coming out on top 39-21.

Joseph Moore made two one yard touchdown runs and received one pass for a 16 yard gain, Cody Bartlett caught a pass from Seth Pipkin for a 63 yard run, and Adam Guerrero pushed through two touchdown runs for 25 yards and 12 yards.

Seth Pipkin made a 61 yard touchdown run as well as two pass receptions equaling 79 yards and Ty Jimmerson had three P.A.T (point after attempts) and rushed six times for a total of 34 yards. Alex Combs had two sacks and one fumble recovery.

In regards to the defense Coach Justin Dunnam said, “The Longhorn defense has only allowed one touchdown in eight quarters of football due to their team play and gritty attitude making it hard on the opponent’s offense to gain yards or get in the end zone.

Team unity, determined attitude, and the ability for different players to step up in the times of need have contributed to the defense’s success thus far this season.” The co-defensive players of the week are Thomas Proctor and Thaddeus Pierce.

The offensive scoring was led by the offensive line including Frank Alvarez, Abel Perez, Ethan Anderson, Matthew Hancock, Thaddeus Pierce, and Chris Ruiz.
