George West cross country team runs down competition

Three weeks ago at the Odem Cross Country Meet the girls George West Varsity team took the course by storm, winning first team overall with amazing times from all of the girls. Raven Tavarez took first will a 15:24. Behind her were Arriel Millermon, third, 15:26, Megan Hardwick, sixth, 15:33, Justine Troell, 11th, 15:15, and Jessica Peterson, 15th, 16:12. Also, making an appearance at the meet was the J.V. boys team, composed of Cody Bartlett and Wesley Iley.

Then, last weekend the cross country team went and ran in Corpus Christi at the Islander Splash Meet. The varsity girls’ team placed 28th overall running against 4A and 5A schools. Justine Troell came in with a time of 13:50, Raven Tavarez with a 14:35, Megan Hardwick with a 15:04, Angel Grimes with a 15:10, Arriel Millermon with a 15:21, and Jessica Peterson with a 16:01.

The varsity boys also ran turning in terrific times in their event. Colton Tindol came in with a time of 18:04 and Luke Sehlke came in with a 21:00.

Also running were the J.V. girls and boys, Elizabeth Cansino ran a 16:58, Jesse Cansino ran a 15:33, Cody Bartlett a 13:00, and Wesley Iley a 14:01.

Overall the meet was a success giving the team insight into what they need to do to prepare for district.
