The district’s dress code is established to teach grooming and hygiene, to prevent disruption, and to minimize safety hazards. Students and parents may determine a student’s personal dress and grooming standards, provided that they comply with the following:

Hair — Hair should be kept in such a manner as not to cause a distraction to fellow students and staff. Boy’s hair length should not fall below any shirt collar, below the eyebrows, or extend below the middle of the ear.

The following are not allowed: rattails; dyed, abnormal colored hair or distracting haircuts, including mohawks and spiked hair; caps, bandanas, and hats.

Blouses, tops, and shirts — Tops and shirts must cover the shoulders, back, front, and sides and extend below the waist. The following are not allowed: Shirts/blouses of sheer, thin materials; low cut tops and spaghetti straps (straps need to be approximately 2” wide); halter tops, tank tops, and tube tops; tops and shirts that advertise alcoholic beverages; tobacco products, or have obscene or questionable printing or pictures; clothing that depicts death, drugs, violence, occult, witchcraft, or gang involvement; sleepwear, loungewear, and beachwear; oversized, long, baggy shirts. (The principal may require a student to tuck in a shirt if it is of excessive length.)

Pants, slacks, shorts, and skirts — Shorts need to extend below fingertips while arms are extended down toward the floor. Pants and shorts for students in grades 3-5 need to have a zipper and be made of pant- weight material.

Skirts and dresses need to reach the top of the knee. (Leggings are allowed only as an accessory.) Jeans and pants must be worn appropriately as determined by the principal; the seat of the pants must not hang down; a belt or loop ties may be required if pants do not fit properly. The following are not allowed: short shorts, wind or nylon shorts, bicycle shorts, unhemmed cutoffs; short skirts; nylon wind pants and warm-ups; baggy pants/jeans; holes in jeans/pants

Jewelry/tattoos — Girls may wear a maximum of two pierced earrings in earlobes. The following are not allowed: earrings for boys; leather collars, choke collars, wallet chains, necklaces or bracelets with dog-like chain links or spikes; visible tattoos, except for washable Bulldog tattoos on game days.

Footwear — Tennis shoes must be worn during PE class and must be tied appropriately for safety reasons! All students are to wear footwear while attending class or any school function or activity unless approved by the principal. The following are not allowed: flip flops; shoes/boots that make excessive noise; tennis shoes with rollers in the soles.

Any other types of dress, wearing apparel, or hairstyle that in the judgment of the administration may not be conducive to the purposes of the school will not be allowed.
