Officials from Anchor Bay Films have announced that the movie, The Open Road, that was partially filmed in Corpus Christi will open in select theatres on Friday, Aug. 28.

The opening and closing scenes for the production were filmed at Whataburger Field on Sunday, March 30, 2008, after an exhibition game between the Corpus Christi Hooks and Round Rock Express. The full ballpark provided an ideal setting as cameras rolled at dusk.

Timberlake portrays a fictional member of the Hooks, Carlton Garrett. Bridges plays his father. The two journey home to Garrett’s ailing mother, Academy Award winner Steenburgen. Mara plays Timberlake’s love interest in the drama/comedy.
