This year, Storyfest adds a new dimension for its 20th annual event: a poetry reading. The reading is hosted by Dos Gatos Press in Austin, who sponsor an annual poetry contest. Poets who enter must submit poems that have a Texas connection.

Each fall, the editors of Dos Gatos Press host a series of readings throughout the state, promoting the next year’s issue. Poets featured in the new calendar read their poems chosen for the calendar, as well as other original poems.

Poets who will read at this year’s Storyfest are Kelly Ellis from Austin, Karla K. Morton from Denton, the Dos Gatos Press editors Scott Wiggerman and David Meischen (who is a native of nearby Orange Grove), and George West’s own Mary Margaret Dougherty.

The Texas Poetry Calendar 2009 reading is scheduled on the FNB Stage from 12:30 – 1:30. For more information and a complete schedule, visit the Storyfest website at
