The George West Longhorns put 48 first half points on the board in route to a 48 to 14 victory over the Dilley Wolves Friday night at Longhorn Field. Chayson Holt, playing the first time since the opening week of the season, got the scoring started with a 55 yard pass reception from Colton Tindol. Dustin White followed with the PAT kick.

In their second possession of the game, the Longhorns scored on a five yard run by Marciano Sanchez. The PAT by White followed. Cayleb Holt followed with the third Longhorn touchdown of the game on a 34 yard run breaking several tackles in the process. White kicked the extra point.

The Defense got involved in the scoring with Scott Rosenbaum returning a pass interception 25 yards. The PAT failed and the score was 27 to 0. Cayleb Holt scored again on a 14 yard run and White’s PAT was successful.

Dilley then was able to get on the scoreboard with a 69 yard run by back Cody Carroll. The PAT kick was good. The Longhorns were able to score twice more before half on a Shannon Taylor 45 yard run and Cayleb Holt’s third touchdown run of the game on a 41 yard scamper. White was successful on both extra point kicks.

Dilley running back Carroll scored on a 65 yard third quarter run and the PAT was successful to close the scoring out for the game.

The Offensive Line again did an outstanding job of run and pass blocking. Quarterback Colton Tindol threw the ball well completing six of eight passes for 127 yards and one touchdown to receivers Dustin White with three catches for 56 yards, Chayson Holt with one catch for 55 yards, Shannon Taylor with one catch for 15 yards, and Marciano Sanchez with one catch for one yard. For the game, the Longhorn Offense rushed 33 times for 293 yards and had 420 yards of total offense.

The Big Blue Wrecking Crew Defense, except for the two long touchdown runs by Wolf back Carroll had another outstanding effort. They had nine tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and an interception. Seniors Joey Leal, Scott Rosenbaum, Marciano Sanchez, Holden Holm., Travis Walker, Joseph Lopez, and Robert Kerr along with juniors Lucas Yocum, Shannon Taylor, Jacob Bardin and Zane Schorp had multiple tackles during the victory. Rosenbaum and Taylor were defensive stalwarts. Rosenbaum had six tackles (two for losses) and the pass interception for a touchdown. Taylor had five tackles, three for losses and one quarterback sack. Defensive backs Marcus Miller, Sanchez, Lopez, Schorp, Tindol, and Seth Pipkin continued with great run support and pass coverage.

The Longhorns make the long trip to Cotulla to face the Cowboys on Halloween night.
