The GW Athletic Booster Club kicked off the 2008 George West Homecoming Festivities on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 4 p.m.

A parade and community pep rally was held in George West at the August Caron Pavilion. Big Dan from KICKER106 was present to lead off the parade and speak at the community pep rally.

All GW High School classes were represented in the parade, along with Life Skills, Rip & Donna Wallace, and the Homecoming Court. The winner of the parade was George West Life Skills and taking 2nd place was a tie between the GW Senior and Freshmen Classes.

More than 300 people attended the kickoff for GW Homecoming and to show their support for the 2008 Longhorn Football and Lady Horns Volleyball Teams, which will be advancing to the Playoffs.

In other GW Athletic Booster news a spirit contest will be conducted with prizes announced for Most Spirited Business, School. Class Door, and Home this week. Judging will occur on Friday at 11 a.m. The winners will be anounced at the Pep rally on that day. To enter the contest, please contact Shirley Holm at 361-362-8004 or Dorothy Taylor at 449-3107.
