The Boys & Girls Clubs of Live Oak County announced registration for their 2009 youth basketball league will be held from 12 noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the George West High School gym and Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Three Rivers Activity Center lobby.

All Live Oak County youth ages 6-12 interested in learning to play basketball are encouraged to register. The league will consist of 24 teams with team rosters of 10 players. Late registrations are not guaranteed a position if teams are full. Last year’s league was a rousing success, with 242 children in all age groups learning basketball fundamentals, teamwork and good sportsmanship.

The basketball league will be an eight week season beginning Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, and ending on Saturday, Febr. 28, 2009. Games are held every Saturday from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. at the George West and Three Rivers High School gymnasiums. Practice begins on Dec. 15. A game schedule with times and locations will be available in mid-December at the Boys & Girls Clubs and on the club website (

Cost of registration for the 2009 league is $50 per child, with a $10 discount for additional children in the same family. Sample jerseys will be available during registration to determine correct sizes. Adults interested in helping out as a coach, official, scorekeeper, timekeeper or team parent can contact the Boys & Girls Clubs office at 786-1400.
