George West High School Class of 2012 Freshman parents mixed it up on Monday at a meet and greet in the high school cafeteria.

Freshman parents were recognized for a variety of attributes and then introduced to the group. Freshman class sponsors in attendance were: Judy and Ted Troell, Phyllis Mitchell, Lucy Chandler and Lynda Hamlin. Susan Coombs acted as refreshment coordinator, while Cheri Dee Moore provided sign in sheets. Crickett Iley served as moderator.

Each parent and class sponsor in attendance wore a name tag and was encouraged to participate in the conversation about the next four years of high school for their current freshman age student.

Topics that were mentioned were: the annual class supper, homecoming parade floats, fund raisers, Junior-Senior Class Prom in 2011, senior bon fire and senior trip in 2012.

Freshman sponsor, Judy Troell reported on the success of the recent barbecue beef/ sausage class supper. All in attendance agreed it was a great success both in quality and in ticket sales.

Freshman parents Dave and Cheri Dee Moore assisted in making the supper a huge success with their knowledge of the catering industry.

The next class event will be the homecoming parade float to be built by freshman class members. Parents should inquire of their student when and where the assembly will take place prior to the parade. Although the float is assembled by the students, parent participation is much appreciated.

Freshman parents are encouraged to connect with one another to make the next four years memorable years for themselves and their student. For further information, contact Crickett Iley at 449-2922.
