Jacob Scott Bardin, age 17, died Saturday, August 29, 2009 in an automobile accident.

Jacob was born to Jason and Genia Bardin on November 15, 1991 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was a senior at George West High School and was #72 on the Longhorns Defensive team. He was a member of the Spanish Club, FCCLA, and Art Club. He was a boy scout and played little league through his 8th grade year. He loved to play basketball with his buddies after school. He loved to joke around, ride fast on dirt bikes.

He loved fishing, barbecuing and being with his girlfriend. With everything he had going on, Jacob always found time to hang out with his friends. He loved spending time with his dog Jayden. He grew up Baptist and attended Sunday School every week. Jacob just completed his Hunter’s Education course last week in preparation for hunting at the ranch in Coleman where he and his father were preparing the land for hunting and the cows were to be picked up in a few weeks.

Through this difficult time the Bardin family finds peace and comfort knowing that Jacob is with his Heavenly Father.

Survivors include: Parents: Jason and Genia Bardin of George West; sister: Kala Bardin of George West; Nana and Grandpa: Nancy and Joe Bardin of George West; Maternal Grandparents: Dan and Sandy Palmer, Jr. of Victoria; Aunts and Uncles (Paternal): Nancy Jo Tarter and Jeremy and Jordyn of San Antonio; Tammie Albough and Chris, Lauren, Megan, Ashlynn of Midland; (Maternal) Tonya Hart, Uncle Chris Palmer, Uncle Damon Palmer, Aunt Dusty Sinclair and Beverly Vincent all of Victoria; Girlfriend: Leandra Chapa of George West; Great- Grandparents: (Paternal) Alma Williams of Andrews and Barbara Perry of Giddings; (Maternal) Dan and Anna Mae Palmer, Sr. of Aransas Pass; he was blessed with numerous cousins, friends, great-aunts and great-uncles.

The football team met at the Methodist Church on Sunday morning, August 30, 2009 for counseling and then was on their way out to the scene when they saw Jason, Genia and Nancy Jo fill up with gas. They followed Jason to the crash site. Jason expressed his gratitude and thought it was the best feeling in the world to know about some of the lives that Jacob touched. To know his son had so many friends. He could not believe the boys had met at the site to honor Jacob. Tim Holt and wife came by and related a story about Saturday morning “after the game” meet. He said Jacob wasn’t there but he made a textbook tackle at the end of the game and Coach Holt ran it at least four times to show the other boys “How it is done!” Coach Holt said he was so proud of the way Jacob had taken control of his life.
