The Boys & Girls Clubs of Live Oak County announced the second season of their volleyball league for girls ages 6-12 will begin on Saturday, Oct. 3. The league teaches kids basic volleyball skills, teamwork and good sportsmanship while competing with their friends. The volleyball league will have a seven week season with games held each Saturday at the George West High School gymnasium, except for Storyfest weekend, when no games are scheduled. Registration will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19th from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Three Rivers Boys & Girls Club, located at 611 Tips Street, and from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. at the George West club, located at 507 E. Houston Street. Registration forms can also be downloaded from the BGCLOC website, www. bgcliveoaktx.org, or be picked up at the clubs. Parents can drop off completed forms with payment at the clubs or mail them to the Boys & Girls Club office at P. O. Box 1048, Three Rivers, TX 78071.
The registration fee is $40 for Boys & Girls Club members and $60 for nonmembers, which includes a 2009 membership. All players must be Boys & Girls Club members to participate in the league. Forms must be received by Monday, Sept. 21. Parents are encouraged to register early, as teams are filled on a first come, first serve basis until rosters are full. League schedules and team rosters will be issued at the coaching clinic, which is held after registration is completed. The game schedule will also be posted on the BGCLOC website.
