The Little Acorn Study Club met for our first meeting of 2009-10 season on Sept. 17. in the Social Room of our famous Three Rivers Dairy Queen at 4 p.m. We had a total of 17 members and six visitors. One visitor was Donna Courtney, guest of President Mrs. Norma Newport. The other four were our two GOLD delegates, Mrs. Lisa Weber and Jeremy Pape.

President Newport opened our meeting, introduced our guests and turned the meeting over to Program Director Mrs. Jane-Anne Keese. Mrs. Keese works with our high school to get the best sophomores to be our GOLD delegates. Mrs. Keese read the reports of the two who wished to be our delegates. The two young poeple who represented Three Rivers, the Little Acorn Study Club and our high school were very nice, polite and good representatives for us.

The two delegates are Miss Lindsey Weber and Mr. Bradley Bellows. Both thanked the Study Club for allowing them to be our representatives and reported they were very pleased with what leadership skills they have learned. They learned to not judge someone quickly, to be more helpful and much more.

Lindsey Weber is the daughter of Lynn and Lisa Weber. She is now a junior at Three Rivers High School. She is an active member of Nueces River 4H and is the current president. She is a Varsity Cheerleader. Lindsey has been on the Varsity Debate Team since her freshman year and now serves as captain. She is an active member of First United Methodist Church. She has helped, in the last three years, to rebuild homes in the Corpus Christi area for those less fortunate. She is active in the Live Oak County Fair by raising lambs and baking, art and crafts. Her hobbies include listening to music, spending time with her friends and shopping. Currently Lindsey is sharing her home with two female exchange students who are her age. Upon graduation, she hopes to attend Duke University in North Carolina.

Bradley Bellows is currently a junior at Three Rivers High School. Bradley is the son of Steve and Tricia Bellows. He has a sister Caroline, age 12. He is member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Bradley is an active member of the National Honor Society, UIL, FCCLA, 4H, Student Council, FCA and Varsity Athletics. He and his debate team partner Jessi Hessong have advanced to state competitions. He has served as a life guard for two summers for the City of Three Rivers. He is planning to attend the University of Texas in Austin and hopefully one day to have a law degree.

Our hostesses for this month were Mrs. Jane Kennedy, Mrs. Madge Patton and Mrs. Patty Barton. They served a very delicious chocolate cake, drinks and nuts.
