After a less than stellar performance during halftime at Natalia, the Big Blue Band from Longhorn land rose to the occasion and came home from the USSBA Bay Area Showcase with a first place trophy.

In group IIA, the band received Best Visual and Best Effect honors. When the winners were announced, there was a tie for first between George West and Odem. Winning the two categories over the Owl band earned them the privilege of bringing home the trophy.

This Saturday the band travels to Sinton for UIL competition. This is an advancing year for the group. The students are hoping for straight ones in order to continue their quest for state recognition.

Dr. Jim Williamson “Doc”, band director and Mr. Jim Cordani, assistant band director are proud of the work that the students put into the show.

Parents and friends are invited to come to Sinton on Saturday to support the band.
