The faculty of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School and Rod and Cindy Oliver of Three Rivers are pleased to announce the graduation of Dr. Jarod Clayborne Oliver. The degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery was bestowed upon Jarod on May 23 at the Greehy Arena on the campus of St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. Jarod is a 2000 graduate of Three Rivers High School.

Dr. Oliver graduated magna cum laude in a class of 100 graduates and was the recipient of numerous awards and honors during his four years of dental school. He was one of 11 students awarded the distinct honor of induction into the National Honor Fraternity, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. This dental honor society selects its lifetime alumni members from the highest ranking students in the senior class. Election into OKU includes an assessment of the student’s character as well as academic performance. It is the highest honor that may be given to a student and carries with it the knowledge that election to this organization is universally recognized as the finest of achievements.

Jarod was also presented the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology award. During his freshman year, Dr. Oliver was chosen as one of twelve students to serve as foreign exchange students with the Japanese Dental School in Tokyo, Japan, interacting with and serving as guide and mentor for two years with dental students from Japan. In March of 2009, Jarod spent ten days in Japan, touring and shadowing at the Dental School in Tokyo.

Dr. Oliver culminated his Dental School graduation with a prestigious invitation and acceptance to be one of four residents in the Orthodontic Residency program at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio from which he will graduate in 2012.

Rod and Cindy are also very proud of their daughter, Kaylynn’s chosen career in dentistry. KayLynn is a Registered Dental Hygienist in Dallas, having graduated in the top 10% of her Hygiene class and scored in the 95 percentile nationwide on her state and clinical boards. She has been employed in Collin County since graduating in 2007 from a four year dental hygiene program. KayLynn is a 2003 graduate of Three Rivers High School.
