Charles Tolleson, age 86, of Three Rivers died on Nov. 16, 2009. He was born on May 27, 1923 to Thomas A. Tolleson and Lucy O. Norris in Palacios. He was married to Annie Marie Hale in 1948 in Aransas Pass. He joined the U.S. Navy on December 10, 1940 and served on the USS Porter, USS Core and USS Dixie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Annie, two brothers, Tommy and Sammy Tolleson, a sister, Lucille Clayborn, a daughter-in-law, Donna Tolleson and a grandson, Lane Tolleson.

He is survived by five sons, Charles A. Tolleson, Jr. of LaPorte, Billy (Gen) Tolleson of Rockport, Thomas Tolleson of Liberal, KS, Joe (Sandi) Tolleson of Campwood and Ricky (Sylvia) Tolleson; two daughters, Lucy (James) Frendolig of Aransas Pass and Linda (Greg) Couk of Three Rivers; two sisters, Carolyn Mertz of Midland and Bobbie Brune of Palacios; 23 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Visitation was held Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Chapel in Three Rivers. The funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 20, 2009 at 3 p.m. at Good Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Dave Darling officiating. Burial will follow at Three Rivers Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Billy Don Tolleson. Jr., Nicolas Tolleson, Jason Couk, T.J. Tolleson, Travis Tolleson, Aaron Tolleson, Willie Tolleson and Charles A. Tolleson, III. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Manchester, Clint Davis, Ray Hatley, Joe Hinojosa, Jason Brown, Elvis Kotrulia, Chris Hall, Jeff Buckner, Mike Clark, Jeff Hajer and Kris Alworth.

Arrangements are under the direction of Galloway and Sons Funeral Home of Three Rivers.
