George West Primary’s 2009 UIL participants traveled to Freer on Saturday, Dec. 5 fora UIL meet. The fourth and fifth graders from George West Elementary traveled to Freer on Saturday, Dec. 5th to take part in the district UIL contest. Fifteen fourth graders and 19 fifth graders participated this year at district. Those competing were:

Ready Writing — fourth graders, Caroline Davis second place, Conner Lyne, and Mason Lyne; fifth graders, Carson Crisp, Laney Mosley, and Keely Taylor.

Spelling — fourth graders, Caroline Davis, sixth; Conner Lyne, fourth; and Bryant Roeske; fifth graders, Beau Mixon, first; Colten McCool, third; and Damien Walls, fifth.

Number Sense — fourth graders, Hannah Clayton, Maddie Cox, Mason Lyne, and Taylor Geffert, alternate; fifth graders, Fisher Barcak, Beau Mixon, Damien Walls, fifth; and Laney Mosley, alternate.

Fifth Grade Dictionary — Caron Crisp, first; Lauren Carroll, third; Abbi Schuette, and Landry Brand, alternate.

Fifth Grade Listening — Abbi Schuette, Logan Quinn, sixth; Alexis Foil, and Lauren Carroll, alternate.

Fifth Grade Maps, Graphs, and Charts — Cole Clifton, sixth; Logan Quinn, and Savannah Mason.

Fourth Grade Oral Reading — LeeRoy Holloway, fifth; Landry Keith, third; Alyson Pawlik, second; and Riley Mumme, alternate.
