George West Primary celebrated Red Ribbon Week with a host of activities.

On Monday, students received red ribbons to wear. Students learned about Officer Enrique Camareno’s life and his ultimate sacrifice as a drug enforcement officer.

Tuesday was “Silly Hat” Day and the students wore assorted hats to support being drug free.

On Wednesday, the students brought their favorite stuffed animals to school for “hugs not drugs” Day. Red Ribbon Week continued on Thursday with a lesson titled, “stranger danger”.

The students learned specific techniques to keep themselves safe. In addition, Halloween safety rules were discussed.

Grade levels competed for the ‘reddest room’ award at each grade levels. Grade level winners received a special snack for the day.

Red Ribbon Week ended Friday with “Crazy Sock” Day as students and staff wore wild colored socks to show a fun and exciting way to be drug free.
