Leola Vana Wilson, 94, of George West, died on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010 in Jourdanton, with her family by her side.

She was born Oct. 6, 1915 to Harv and Nora Belle Fisher in Gatesville. She married Travis C. Wilson on Oct. 6, 1934. After stops across much of Texas, Travis and Leola moved to George West,Texas in 1950 and were faithful members of George West Church of Christ. Leola was a full time mother who also found time to work for the U. S. Postal Service for 24 years before retiring in 1980. Following the loss of her husband on Oct. 25, 1994, Leola continued living an independent life, moving to Argent Court Atascosa County in Aug. of 2008. The remaining years of Leola’s life were full and rewarding, making new friends at her new home.

Leola is survived by two sons, Timothy Travis Wilson (Clara) and Rodney Trent Wilson (Grace), five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held, at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20, at Church of Christ in George West, with Mr. Ivy Conner and Mr. Pete Wilson officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Damon Wilson, Monty Schroeder, Dale Burell, Ramiro (Jr.) Garcia, Rodney Pope and Juan Guerra. Interment followed at George West Cemetery.
