The annual Transfer and Recruitment Day, held recently at Coastal Bend College in Beeville attracted 685 area high school students. The event allowed students and recruiters to meet and plan for the future. Representatives from 45 Texas colleges and universities were on hand to answer questions and provide students with information about their programs and institutions.

Among those represented were Texas Tech University, the University of Texas, Texas A&M University, Texas Women’s University and Tarleton State University.

Coastal Bend College representatives held demonstrations and information sessions about programs including criminal justice, computer information technology and cosmetology. Counselors were available to help students find their best fit.

Students from A.C. Jones High School in Beeville, Falls City High School, George West High School, Goliad High School, Karnes City High School, Kenedy High School, Mathis High School, Pettus High School, Runge High School, Skidmore-Tynan High School and Three Rivers High School participated. They took home catalogs, degree plans and general information, all geared to matching each with the institution most suited for his or her career goals.

CBC students planning to graduate in 2009 also attended. They were able to discuss academic transfers with university representatives. A special lunchtime workshop was held for transfer students to give them the opportunity to meet recruiters one-on-one.

Coastal Bend College hosts Transfer and Recruitment Day every year as a public service to college-bound students. For information contact Eddie Rojas at (361)354-2731 or
