TR 8th grade girls lose in overtime

The eighth grade girls’ basketball team played their first game on the road against Jourdanton this past Thursday and came out a little short. The girls really gave it their all; they ended the fourth quarter with a tie causing them to go into overtime.

The Lady Bulldogs lead the first quarter with a score of 6 to 4. In the second quarter the Lady Bulldogs scored an additional four points while Jourdanton scored two bring the score to 10-6 going into halftime with Three Rivers leading.

At the end of the third quarter the score was Three Rivers 10 Jourdanton 8. In the fourth quarter the Lady Bulldogs had 15 and Jourdanton had 15 leading to overtime.

The Lady Bulldogs really worked together to take the lead from Jourdanton up until the last minute of overtime were they came up short with a score of 17 to 19. The girls did really well offensively and defensively.

Kaitlyn Roberts lead the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with six points followed by Brittany Shipman with four points. Haley B. Rodriguez, Taylor LaRose, and Stephanie Rodriguez added two points each to the Lady Bulldog score and Haley Hinojosa added one point in a free throw that tied up the game.
