Seventh grade Lady Bulldogs lose Jourdanton Squaws

The seventh grade Lady Bulldogs traveled to Jourdanton this past Thursday to play their first game of the season against the Jourdanton Squaws.

The Lady Bulldogs came out strong and played hard defensively and offensively and at the end of the first quarter, they lead the Squaws 4-2.

The Squaws came out strong during the second quarter and the Lady Bulldogs hustled and played great, but going into halftime the Squaws took the lead.

The third quarter proved to be another exciting quarter for the Lady Bulldogs as the team scored and narrowed the margin against the Squaws with a score of 8-12 going into the fourth and final quarter of the game.

The fourth quarter was well -played, but the Squaws came out fiercely and came away with the win. Both Haleigh Garcia and Sara Saenz scored four points for the Lady Bulldogs. Tessa Gregory had five rebounds and caused several turnovers. Kailey Harless had three steals and four rebounds; Mia Castillo played well defensively and had two steals and two rebounds. Kellie Moya and Heather Thomas hustled after the ball each making two rebounds. Mikaila Rushing played great offensively and hustled for the ball.

Brittany Wilson and Keely Retzloff had three rebounds and also played well defensively. Amber Mendoza managed three steals and one rebound as well.

The Lady Bulldogs will play at home this Thursday against Dilley and in Cotulla on Dec. 18th before going on their holiday break.
