Bulldogs start off the season on high note

The Three Rivers Bulldog Basketball kicked off its season with a victory over McMullen County 63-45 on Tuesday, Nov. 25.

Leading the charge was Travis Escamilla with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Preston Pennington chipped in 14 points and had four assists as well. John Morgan Ross contributed 11 points, Logan Muniz 8 points, Trevor Wells 7 points (15 rebounds), and Garret Luthringer 7 points.

Next, the Bulldogs hosted the Pettus Eagles on Dec. 2. Pennington led the way with 23 points as the ‘Dogs beat the Eagles 63-37. Escamilla scored 10 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. Ross and Wells each scored 8 points, Jonathan Sulaica, Jacob Moran, and Xavier Salazar each added 4 points and Muniz chipped in 2 points.

Following, the Bulldogs played in the Karnes City tournament over the weekend. Pennington was selected to the All-Tournament Team for his play throughout the tournament. The Bulldogs will be back in action at the McMullen County Tournament with the ‘Dogs first game slated for 10:30 am vs Karnes City. The second game starts at 3 p.m. vs Port Aransas.
