Tilden FFA Chapter completes successful fall leadership season

The Tilden FFA Chapter took three teams to the State FFA Leadership Development Events in Huntsville on Dec. 5-6.

Allison Donnell competed in the Greenhand FFA Creed Speaking event and placed 4th. The Ag Issues team presented a forum on Wind Energy and received 8th place.

Team members were Courtney Sowell, Kyle Duby, Lorri Crum, and Lane Alaniz. Also competing was a Public Relations team which did not advance to the finals. The team consisted of Courtney Sowell, Laramie Starr, and Lauryn Wise. Each of these teams and individuals competed against 19 other entries in each event at Sam Houston State University. They qualified for state competition by placing first or second at the Area X Leadership Development Events held at Texas A&M University- Kingsville on Nov. 24.

At the Area LDE’s, Tilden was represented by six teams. Placings are as follows: Ag Issues Forum-1st place, Greenhand Creed Speaking-1st place, Public Relations-2nd place, Greenhand Quiz-3rd place, Radio Broadcasting-4th place, and Senior Skills- 5th place.

In District competition, six teams advanced to the Area LDE. Results were: Greenhand Creed Speaking- 1st place, Greenhand Quiz- 2nd place, Senior Creed Speaking – 5th place, Senior Skills – 1st place, Senior Quiz- 3rd place, Radio Broadcasting - 1st place, Ag Issues Forum- 1st place, Public Relations- 2nd place, Job Interview- Lorri Crum, 3rd place.
