Charles F. Toth, 87, of George West, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2010.

Mr. Toth was born in Bayonne, NJ on March 3, 1923, to Rosa Theresa (Cure) and Gabriel Andrew Toth. He married Sarah A. Wheeler in Corpus Christi on June 6, 1943, and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a teacher and a member of St. George Catholic Church. He was also known as “the Pecan Man”.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah A. Toth of George West; two daughters, Georgia (Andy) Terry of Annapolis, MD and Margaret (Wayne) Cockroft of Victoria; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the George West Chapel. A rosary was recited there at 7 o’clock.

The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. George Catholic Church in George West with Father George Johnson officiating. Burial followed in the George West Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Wesley Burns, Charles Terry, Terry Wheeler, Wayne Cockroft and Jimmy Cockroft.
