The election is not considered official until the votes are canvassed.
Clark was elected to the place 1 council position, Posas, place 4, and Downs, place 5. All three races were close.
Clark received103 votes and her opponent, Linda Bell, received 93.
Posas received 96, and his opponents, Danny Briseno, 88, and Peter Gonzales, 13.
Downs received 109 votes and his opponent, Francisco “Frank” Briseno Jr., 89.
The winners will fill the unexpired terms of Gloria Derrough, Eugene Fricks and Len Spanjers.
Derrough and Fricks resigned on Friday, May 14, the night the winners in the May election were sworn in by County Judge Rene Mascorro.
Spanjers also resigned but withdrew his resignation in order that a quorum could be met and the town’s business could continue.
The terms of the new council members will run through the next town election in May.
In the general election, none of the candidates in the county faced opponents.
Unofficial winners are Rene Mascorro, county judge; Ruby Vela Garcia, district clerk; Ida M. Ramirez, county clerk; Louise Null Aduddell, county treasurer; Stanley Tuttle, commissioner, Pct. 2; Rod Bernal, commissioner, Pct. 4; Lorraine M. Lopez, justice of the peace, No. 1; Emi Pullin Riemenschneider, justice of the peace, No. 2.
Skipper Koetter was elected district judge, 267th Judicial District.
