“Sales tax revenue has now grown for eight consecutive months compared to year ago levels, with recent gains above the 5 percent mark,” Combs said. “November’s monthly gain showed growth in a range of sectors like manufacturing, the oil and natural gas industry, retail trade and restaurants.”
According to the comptroller’s report, Beeville will receive a rebate of $209,164.66 in December, an increase of 1 percent over the $207,093.14 sent to the city at the same time last year.
Since January, the city has received $2,692,015.20 in sales tax rebates from Combs’ office. That figure actually is a decline of 0.18 percent from the $2,969,891.54 the city had collected by this time last year.
Bee County’s $88,400.02 rebate will be 14.49 percent more than the $77,209.34 sent last December. So far this year, the county’s $1,076,400.86 rebate reflects an increase of 3.28 percent compared to the $1,042,177.42 collected by this time in 2009.
November state sales tax collections and December sales tax allocations to local governments represent sales that occurred in October.
