The Three Rivers ISD Special Education building, concession stand and restrooms at the football stadium were demolished over the Christmas break.

During the Nov. 18 school board meeting, trustees voted to proceed with plans to construct new facilities that will feature concrete block construction with a metal roof.

The concession stand will be approximately 677 square feet with three service windows and a storage room. The ladies and men’s restrooms will have double the number of fixtures and will also have a unisex restroom with a baby changing station. The concession stand and restrooms should be completed prior to the 2011 football season.

The school board is financing this construction of the concession stand and restrooms with fund balance money that was designated for construction.

Additionally, the board has asked the school architect, Randy Fromberg of Fromberg and Associates, to draw up plans for the renovation of the football stadium to make it handicapped accessible. Handrails, handicapped ramps and sidewalks will be included in the plans.
