The Kenedy Rotary Club presents the Miss Karnes County Pageant on Saturday, February 19, at 7 p.m. at the Kenedy High School Auditorium. The festivities include the Little Mister and Little Miss Karnes County Contest.

The event is a scholarship fundraiser for Karnes County youth from Falls City, Karnes City, Kenedy and Runge.

“Building Communities - Bridging Continents” is the motto for the Kenedy Rotary Club for 2011 and the theme for this year’s pageant. The Kenedy Rotary Club’s community efforts includes the Miss Karnes County Pageant, sponsorship of a Rotary Interact Club, sponsorship of the Rotary Bluebonnet Days Pancake Breakfast, the Dictionary Project that supplies dictionaries for local schools, assistance to the Karnes City Lonesome Dove Fest event and many other activities. The annual barbecue chicken dinners that are sold also benefit the scholarship funds.

This year’s Master of Ceremony is the Assistant District Governor from Karnes County, Daphne Bianchi. Entertainment chairman, Tobe Ricks, has announced that Sally Carlson and Debbie Rider as “Best Friends” will perform as entertainment for the evening.

The judges for the Miss Karnes County will be Connie Cooper of San Antonio, Wendy Seale of Victoria and Kathy Riggins of Giddings. The judges for the Little Mr. and Miss Karnes County will be Bill Janecek of Goliad, Taunja Schroeder of Taylor and Tammy Patin of Taylor. The Kenedy Rotary Club expressed appreciation for the volunteers who will travel to Karnes County to assist the Rotary Club with the Pageant.

Rotary members invite everyone to come out and have some fun and support the students. Miss Karnes County pageant contests are selling tickets, competing with each other to win an additional book scholarship with the contestant selling the most tickets. Tickets will also be available at the door that evening. Adult tickets are 5$, students and children ages six and under are free.

LibLady - I posed your question to Bubba and his response was, "wadda ya mean run for Queen, tell her I'm already a Queen." He also wanted you to know he is a liberal Queen. voted for Obama and that he and his life partner, Little Willie, are life long democrats.

They would like to see Barney Frank get the next Democratic nod for President.
