The non-insured crop disaster assistance program (NAP) is a federally funded program that helps producers reduce their risk when growing food and fiber crops, specialty crops and crops for livestock feed. March 15 is the application closing date for sorghum forage intended for either grazing or haying.

These benefits are only available for crops for which the catastrophic level of crop insurance is not available for the crop. NAP is not available for crops when the Risk Management Agency (RMA) offers coverage for the crop in the county.

Producers are required to obtain NAP coverage and/or crop insurance on all crops to qualify for: Supplemental Revenue Assistance Program (SURE), Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP), Tree Assistance Program (TAP), and Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honey Bees and Farm-Raised Fish (ELAP).
