Rogelio Ortiz, 47, of Woodsboro, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009. An avid fisherman, Ortiz was employed at Sherwin Aluminum Plant in Gregory.

He was born April 7, 1961, in San Juan to Ramon Ortiz Sr. and Fela R. Ortiz.

He is preceded in death by his father and his brother Reynaldo Ortiz Sr.

Survivors include his mother; two daughters and their husbands, Esmeralda and Rene Torez of Portland and Monica Ortiz and Juan Carlos Meza Jr. of Lubbock; four sisters, Isabel O. Rios of Gregory, Rosemary O. Guerrero of Portland, Ida Macias of Galena Park and Raquel Ortiz of Corpus Christi; four brothers and their wives, Ramon and Ruth Ortiz Jr, Ruben and San Juanita Ortiz Sr., Richard and Norma Ortiz of Pflugerville and Reymundo and Sylvia Ortiz Sr. of Rockport; one grandson; nine nieces; twelve nephews; 10 great-nieces; and 13 great-nephews.

Visitation was held from 3 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Ruben M. Garcia & Sons Funeral Services, Chapel A, in Alice. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. following the visitation.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Falfurrias.

Pallbearers were Ramon Ortiz III, Richard Ortiz, Ruben Ortiz Sr., Ruben E. Ortiz, Roel Rios, Rene Rios, Roman Rios and Elix Ortiz.

Honorary pallbearers were Michael Richard Ortiz, Eddie Ortiz and Joshua Ramon Jaramillo.
