CBSWCD essay, poster winners announced

The Copano Bay Soil and Water Conservation District was named outstanding district for the year.

The district consists of 49 counties. The district will receive its award in Victoria on May 3 at the Area III Conservation Awards Banquet.

The district also this week announced its poster and essay contest winners of its annual contest.

Woodsboro Elementary School poster winners include Autumn Scrimpsher, Roberta Vega, McKenzie Weitzel, Abbey Hicks, Haleigh Bolcik, Gabriella Zavala, Isabel Friedrichs, Maggie Hewitt and Katherine Andrade.

Austwell-Tivoli Elementary poster winners include Dallas Ford, Ashley Martinez, Lili Estrada, Madalyne Perez, Macie Hernandez, Preston Davenport and Dominick Waubansee.

Refugio Elementary poster winners are Jasmine Perez, Mariya Pullin, Rachel Fernandez, Shelby Summerville, Sydney Summerville, Ruben Gallegos, Daniella Coronado, Jazz-Lyne Lewis and Jadelyn Lewis.

Woodsboro High School essay winners are Amber Gray, Bethany Fricks and Michelle Martinez.

Refugio High School essay winners are Jeffrey Soto, Shefawn Castorena, and Darby Coleman.

The CBSWCD will also celebrate Soil and Water Stewardship Week from April 24 through May 1. The proclamation was signed by the commissioners court Tuesday during its regular meeting.
