Bulldog mile relay team brings home District 30-2A championship honors

The following Three Rivers Bulldogs qualified for Region after the District 30-AA Track last Tuesday and Wednesday. The Regional Track Meet will be May 2 and May 3 in San Antonio at Judson Stadium.

The District 30-AA Track meet was held last Tuesday and Wednesday. Three Rivers competed against teams from Karnes City, Poth, Jourdanton, Dilley, George West, Natalia, and Cotulla. Numerous Bulldog athletes placed in the meet. The TR Mile Relay team of Dustin Thomas, Charlie Johnston, Gage Crawford, and Garrett Wieding took the District Champion honors. Senior Larry Hatten was the District Champion in Triple Jump. The Bulldog 800 relay team of Wes Guzman, Crawford, Wieding, and Hatten also qualified for Regionals with a 2nd place finish. The Mile Relay and 800 relay have qualified for the Regional meet for the second consecutive year. Results of the meet for Three Rivers are:


T.J. Rodriguez – 5th in Shot Put with a throw of 42’6 ½”

Bradley Bellows – 4th in Discus with a throw of 123’ and will be a Regional Alternate

Gage Crawford – 4th in Triple Jump with a jump of 40’10” and will be Regional Alternate

Dillon Guajardo- tied for 6th in pole vault at 10’

Larry Hatten- 2nd in Long Jump with a jump of 20’6 and Larry is the District Champion in Triple Jump with a jump of 42’1”. Larry will represent Three Rivers in both events at the Regional Meet.

Sprint Relay – 4th place with a time of :44.23 – relay members are Wesley Guzman, Gage Crawford, Albert Moreno, Larry Hatten. They will be regional alternate.

Wesley Guzman – 6th in 100m dash with a time of 11.3

Garrett Wieding – 4th place in 300 hurdles with a time of :41.9

800 Relay – 2nd place with a time of 1:32 – members of the 800 relay are Wes Guzman, Gage Crawford, Garrett Wieding, Larry Hatten. Regional qualifier

Mile Relay – District Champion with a time of 3:33- members of the mile relay are Dustin Thomas, Charlie Johnston, Gage Crawford, and Garrett Wieding. Regional qualifier

Junior Varsity

The Junior Varsity Boys finished 3rd in the team Standings.

Hagan Johnston -4th place in long jump and 4th place in high jump and 4th place in 300 hurdles

Daniel Diaz – 2nd in shot put and 1st place in Discus

Nathan Morin – 3rd place in Discus

Ahmit Patel- 6th place in the 3200

Michael Casarez – 5th place in 800 and 5th place in 100 m dash

Adam Romero – 4th place in 110 hurdles and 6th place in 300 hurdles

Hans Herold – 5th place in 400

Sprint relay team of Casarez, Zenon Sanchez, Robby Stoddard, and Nathan Morin placed 5th

800 relay team of Avery Newport, Zenon Sanchez, Robby Stoddard and Hagan Johnston placed 4th

And the mile relay team of Hagan Johnston, Avery Newport, James Means, and Hans Herold placed 4th place

Other members of the Three Rivers Track squad are Patrick Jarratt, Ty Brown, Kaleb Gee, Troy Chowns, James Lee, Kalli Escamilla, Jacob Muniz, Gage Saenz, Jake Baker, Travis Smith, Tanner Johanson, Chris Lopez, and manager Ashten Crawford. All of the young men put in an extraordinary amount of effort this season.

The Regional meet will be held May 2nd and 3rd at Judson Stadium in Converse-San Antonio. Three Rivers and George West will be well represented at the Regional Meet.
