The Scholastic Book Fair will be held from May 2-6 at the Refugio Elementary Library.

“The book fair is larger than ever and promises great books for children, young adults, and adult readers,” said Anna Garcia, librarian.

This year’s theme is A Celebration of Great Books, which will include many books for student’s summer reading.

Monday is the Teacher Preview Day. Teachers will have a chance to see what the book fair has to offer. A student kick-off will include a One for Books competition called End of the Rainbow. This will be an opportunity for students to donate loose change for students who need books.

Tuesday will be Grands Make a Book Fair Sweet. Grandparents will be invited to shop with their grandchildren and then decorate a cupcake to end their shopping spree.

Winning Wednesday will allow students to win extra prizes when they shop at the book fair.

Thursday is Family Night. The week will end on Friday with Fiesta Friday when sweets and treats will be handed out to students who purchase books at the fair.

Throughout the week contests will take place to promote reading and the Scholastic Book Fair.

All proceeds will be used to buy new books for both libraries and bring authors and illustrators to the students of Refugio ISD.

If any parent would like to donate their time to this event, please contact Anna at 526-5400. Any help will be appreciated.
