Kenny Moore, son of Ken and Debra Moore and student at Refugio ISD, has been selected to participate in Education in Actions Lone Star Leadership Academy in the Houston/Galveston area, June 27 to July 1.

Kenny’s selection was based on his outstanding academic success, demonstrated leadership ability, successful completion of a previous Lone Star Leadership Academy program, and his involvement in school and community activities.

Education in Action hosts the Lone Star Leadership Academy to “Instill the Spirit of Texas in Tomorrow’s Leaders.”

U.S. Senators John Cornyn and Kay Bailey Hutchison, and U.S. Representative Ruben Hinojosa will be notified of his accomplishment.

Joining a delegation of outstanding students from across the state of Texas, Kenny will develop leadership skills while learning about the great state of Texas and its leaders. He will learn about future career and internship opportunities and visit historically, scientifically, and environmentally significant sites including NASA’s Johnson Space Center, Moody Gardens, the San Jacinto Battleground Monument, Battleship Texas, the Port of Houston, the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts, and the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

Additional activities will include a boat ride on Galveston Bay with a marine biologist, an overnight stay at the George Observatory, dinner on Kemah boardwalk, and a farewell program.

In addition, participants have fun meeting other outstanding students from across the state of Texas and making new friends.
