County 4H’ers awarded $26,900 in scholarships

Two Refugio High School graduates received the Richard Wallrath Educational Foundation Scholarships during the 4H Opportunity Scholarship Banquet at the Texas State 4H Roundup in College Station on June 13.

Katie Bernal and Taylor Bellows each received $10,000 through the baccalaureate degree program. Both graduates will attend Texas A&M in College Station.

Katie will major in education and human development to pursue a career as a certified registered nurse anesthetist.

Taylor major in marketing to pursue a career as a marketing analyst.

At the conclusion of the scholarship assembly, the recipients were honored at dinner banquets with their respective donors.

Local scholarships

County 4H members were recently awarded $6,900 from local 4-H scholarships.

Booster scholarship recipients include Quentin Bellows, Shelby Bellows and Taylor Bellows.

Picante Sauce Scholarship were awarded to Quentin, Shelby, and Taylor Bellows, Katie Bernal, Alfred Franke, Amber Garcia, Alexa Montemayor, John Perez, Sean Ponce, and Madison Preston.

Madison was also awarded the Cletis Dulin Memorial Scholarship.
