During this two-hour workshop, parents will have an opportunity to celebrate their journey, become aware of what it means to be a parent leader, and set a vision for their children’s future. Consuelo begins with her own story of what it was like growing up in a barrio, a daughter to immigrant parents, surviving abuse and being able to overcome numerous obstacles. She speaks about hidden secrets and challenges families face even today. In her words, “I feel blessed to still be here, not just as a survivor, but as a role model who is willing to get, ‘naked with my soul.’”
Consuelo continues, “I find it imperative and see it as my obligation to serve my community with a servant’s heart, facilitate healing when needed, and set forth high expectations. I believe our children can succeed and become great leaders. I am the American dream! However, we still see many broken dreams today, or what I call diamonds in the rough. Let’s change that.”
This parent workshop will be held on Monday, Aug. 15, from 5-7 p.m. at the Refugio High School auditorium.
School officials encourage parents to join Consuelo in this highly engaging and interactive workshop that will transform them. The workshop will provide parents with methods and tools that will help them and their children succeed.
