Grand jury indicts defendants on drug, assault charges

Two district court defendants face possible 20-year prison sentences if convicted on charges of drug possession when they go to court.

Bee County Grand Jury members returned second- degree felony indictments against Marcus Maturey and Melinda Bernadette Alapisco in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred Feb. 4.

According to Bee County Sheriff’s Office investigators, the two had between four and 200 grams of cocaine in their possession.

Second-degree felonies are punishable, upon conviction, by up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Bond was set at $5,000 on each suspect by District Judge Joel Johnson.

Defendants indicted on third degree felony charges included:

•Robert Eugene Fields, Jr. on a charge of bail jumping, a third-degree felony.

If convicted, Fields could be sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined $10,000.

District Court Bailiff Bill Lazenby alleged that Fields was to have appeared in court July 19 on a charge of driving while intoxicated, third offense or more, but he failed to be there.

The defendant was out on a $3,000 bond on that charge. His bond on the bail jumping charge was set at $100,000.

•Danette Olivia Lindsey on a charge of possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility, enhanced to a third degree felony.

According to Texas Department of Criminal Justice investigators, Lindsey had marijuana in her possession while she was at the TDCJ’s McConnell Unit in Beeville on May 21.

The charge was enhanced because the defendant had previous felony convictions on three charges of possession of cocaine May 7, 1993, in Nueces County.

Bond was $20,000.

•Jacob Patrick Reyes on a charge of possession of a prohibited item in a correctional facility.

The charge was enhanced to a third-degree felony because Reyes had three previous felony convictions in Guadalupe County on Sept. 9, 2004.

Those convictions were on two counts of sexual assault and one count of indecency with a child-contact .

In this month’s indictment, TDCJ authorities alleged that Reyes had a cellular phone in his possession while at the McConnell Unit on April 8, 2009.

Bond was $20,000.

•Gloria Longoria Rocha, also known as Gloria Rocha Anzaldua, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, hydrocodone, in a correctional facility.

The offense is a third degree felony.

Beeville Police Department investigators claim the defendant had the drug at the Bee County Jail on June 18.

Bond was $5,000.

•Roland Cantu, also known as Spider, on a charge of possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility, a third degree felony.

Police claimed that Cantu had cocaine on him when he was taken to the Bee County Jail on Jan. 28, 2011.

Bond was $5,000.

•Jacqueline Lopez on a charge of possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility, a third-degree felony, and possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, less than one gram, a state jail felony.

State jail felonies are punishable by up to two years in a state jail facility and a $10,000 fine.

City officers alleged that Lopez had the drug inside the Bee County Jail Jan. 13.

Bond was $6,000.

•Richard Anthony Sanchez on a charge of injury to a child, a third- degree felony.

According to a report filed by District Attorney Investigator Dan Caddell, Sanchez hit a child under the age of 14 in the face with his hand during an incident June 30.

Bond was $10,000 with family violence conditions.

•William Sidney Green was named in a two-count indictment on charges of assault against a family member, strangulation, and injury to an elderly, intentional bodily injury.

Both counts are third- degree felonies.

Deputies alleged that Green committed the offenses during an incident on June 18 and his victim was the same man in both counts.

Bond was $10,000 with family violence conditions.

•Tawfik Dimion Hart in a two-count indictment on charges of assault against a family member, strangulation, and continuous family violence, both third degree felonies.

Caddell alleged Hart struck a female member of his household on June 24 and that he had been charged in a similar incident on Aug. 2.

Bond was $2,000 with family violence conditions.

•Rito Campos on a charge of assault, family violence, prior conviction, a third degree felony.

Caddell alleged that Campos struck a family member with his hand June 17 and he had a conviction on a similar charge on June 14 in Bee County Court.

Bond was $4,000 with family violence conditions.

•Jacob Anthony Caballero and Julian James Caballero were named in separate indictments on the same charge for an offense allegedly committed the same day at the same location.

The charge, possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, less than one gram, was elevated a third degree felony because the two were in a drug-free zone, within 1,000 feet of the Little Lamb Learning Center at 2507 Lexington Road.

BCSO deputies alleged that the two had the drug on Sept. 15, 2010.

Bond on Jacob Anthony Caballero was set at $5,000 and Julian James Caballero’s bond was $2,500.

•Melinda Bernadette Alapisco in a two-count indictment on charges of tampering with physical evidence, a third-degree felony, and possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, less than one gram, a state jail felony.

Police alleged that Alapisco had the drug March 7 and that she tried to hide or conceal it to keep it from being used as evidence.

Bond was $5,000.

•Sergio Gonzales on charges of tampering with physical evidence, a third degree felony, and possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, less then one gram, a state jail felony.

BPD officers claimed that Gonzales had the drug March 7 and that he tied to hide it from officers

Bond was $3,500.

•Travis Jade Bergeron on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram, in a drug-free zone.

BPD officers alleged that the defendant had methamphetamine Feb. 6 and he was within 1,000 feet of Coastal Bend College, 3800 Charco Road, when the drug was discovered.

Bond was $2,500.

•Quentin Hoppens on a charge of tampering with physical evidence, a third-degree felony.

Beeville police claimed that Hoppens tried to hide marijuana during an incident March 12.

Bond was $3,000.

•Jonathon Eugene Juelg on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, one-four grams. The offense is a third degree felony.

Sheriff’s deputies alleged that Juelg had the drug on April 20.

Bond was $1,700.

•Wilbur James Hauschild, III on a charge of driving while intoxicated, third or more.

The offense is a third- degree felony.

Police arrested Hauschild on the charge April 26.

The defendant had previous DWI convictions July 3, 1996, and April 23, 2010, both in Victoria County.

Bond was $5,000 with driving conditions.

•Rene Cortinas on a charge of DWI, third or more, a third-degree felony.

Cortinas was arrested on that charge Jan. 23 by a Highway Patrol trooper.

He had previous DWI convictions on Aug. 13, 1985, in Live Oak County and on Jan. 15, 1990, in Bee County.

Bond was $10,000 with driving conditions.

•Guillermo Ponce Gonzalez on a charge of DWI, third offense or more, a third degree felony.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Gonzalez on the charge on March 6.

He had previous DWI convictions on Jan. 7, 1984, and Aug. 23, 2006, both in Bee County.

Bond was $5,000 with driving conditions.
