Eleanor graduated from Beaufort High School and East Carolina University. She had been an educator in Pitt County, N.C. and also in Fairfax County, Va. and was a member of Dulin United Methodist Church in Falls Church, Va.
She was born Nov. 8, 1914 in Bachelor, N.C.. to Emmet Claude Taylor and Bessie Irene Martin.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, one brother and three husbands, Richard L. Copeland, Roy E. Benson, and James W. Ray; two nephews, A. B. Morton, and Harvey R. McLawhorn.
Survivors include six nieces, Mary Frances Morton Green of Tallahassee, Fla., Jean Taylor Cochran, Claudia Taylor Lewis and her husband Charles, Susan Taylor Turner and her husband Carl of Havelock, N.C., Linda Gail Pridgen Harris of Concord, N.C., Karen McLawhorn Henke and husband James of Refugio; two nephews, M.H. Pridgen and wife Diana of Rocky Mount, N.C. and Claude McLawhorn of Vanceboro, N.C.
Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. at National Memorial Park on Friday, Aug. 26, in Fall Church, Va., with the Rev. Dr. Davies Kirkland of Dulin United Methodist Church officiating.
