The bride was given in marriage by her father, Don Gillespie, and her son, Preston Gillespie.
She wore a white, Alfred Angelo, strapless, tea-length dress with lace and silver beading. The bride carried a bouquet of lavender roses mixed with assorted buttons and vintage brooches. She wore a diamond bracelet, borrowed from her sister in-law, Billie Ann Boenig of Bonnie View.
Wedding music was provided by Mrs. Franke of Orange Grove on the piano.
The matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Leslie Gillespie Payan of Houston. The best man was the groom’s brother, Glen Boenig of Bonnie View. Katarina Payan, the bride’s niece, served as flower girl. The groom’s son, Davis Boenig, carried the rings.
The wedding reception was held at the Bonnie View Community Center. The reception hall was elegantly decorated with a crystal chandelier, purple drapery and lavender roses. Guests enjoyed live music and a barbecue dinner.
The bride’s cake, created by Nelda Blaschke of Woodsboro, was chocolate with various shades of purple butterflies, cascading down the side of each tier. The groom’s cake was an Italian cream cake, prepared by the groom’s sister, Jo Ann Franke of Bonnie View.
The bride is the daughter of Don and Becky Gillespie of Edna. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Norman “Fuzzy” Gillespie of Woodsboro, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Fitch, formerly of Edna. The groom is the son of Durwood and Lee Nell Boenig of Bonnie View. His grandparents are Mrs. Ellen Boenig of Beeville and the late Mr. Walter Boenig; the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Voges.
The bride attended Sam Houston University, where she graduated in 2008 with a degree in English and art history. She is currently employed with the Houston Independent School District.
The groom is employed by Armtech Insurance.
The couple traveled to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon on their honeymoon.
