The Woodsboro High School welding team placed third in the pipe welding division at the fifth annual Nueces County Livestock welding contest in Robstown last Friday.

The team received a $350 gift certificate that was donated by Valero Refinery. Citgo Refinery donated the trophies for the winning schools.

Russell Smith, with Industrial Piping Specialists in Corpus Christi sponsored the contest.

Students were judged on their beveling, tacking, fitting, safety and welding skills. Welds were x-rayed by Wilson Inspection X-Ray and inspected for quality.
