Adelaide (Peachy) Butler, 87, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009 in Corpus Christi. She was an accomplished artist who loved painting large oak trees and bluebonnets. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church who served on the church board and as secretary for many years.

She was born June 17, 1921 in Grafton, N.D. to Col. Thomas D. and Louise Groff Swiggum.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo G. Butler.

Survivors include one daughter, Kathy and husband Tom Wagstaff of Rockport; one son, Tommy and wife Linda Butler of Refugio; two sisters, Louise DeWoody and Dr. Shirl Otiker of Houston; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one niece.

Visitation will be at Moore Funeral Home today, Thursday, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, Jan. 16 at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Garden Memories in Houston on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 11 a.m.
