REFUGIO — The Refugio County 4-H Livestock Judging Team is off and running. The team traveled to the Heart of Texas State Fair in Waco on Sunday, Oct. 9.

Kodye Neel placed second in the overall junior division. The team traveled to Dallas for the State Fair of Texas on Sunday, Oct. 16. Of the 306 senior individuals and 75 senior teams competing, the county’s senior team placed 12th overall. Team members are HC Neel, Derek Ressman, Dalton Klare and Megan Simmons placed 12th overall and second in the sheep division.

HC placed 18th overall and 10th in sheep while Derek placed seventh in Sheep.

The junior contest had 153 individuals and 38 teams. McKenzi Simmons placed 18th and Kodye placed 19th in the overall junior contest. Kodye placed sixth in questions and fifth in sheep.

Junior Team A consisting of Kodye, Reagan Ruddock, K’Cee Ponce and Kasandra Nunez placed seventh overall, sixth in questions, sixth in swine and second in sheep.

Team B consisting of Ryan Speis, Holley Nelson and McKenzi placed 12th in the overall competition.

The teams will travel to College Station on Nov. 5, for Aggiefest.
