He graduated from Austwell-Tivoli High School in 1978. He served in the U.S. Army from 1978-1982. He graduated from the Victoria Police Academy and worked for the Yorktown Police Department in the mid 1980s.
He was a volunteer with the Yorktown EMS and the Cuero EMS. He graduated from the LVN program at Victoria College.
Martinez was born May 8, 1960, in Victoria.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Benita Martinez.
Survivors include his father, Paul Martinez and his wife, Mary, of Refugio; one brother, Dale Martinez and his wife, Ofelia; niece, Elizabeth; nephew, Edward; all of Aransas Pass; two sisters, Barbara Barsch and husband Robert of San Antonio, and Veronica Martinez of Balcones Heights; and all of his extended family in Yorktown.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 3 p.m. A rosary was recited at 7p.m. at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial services will be held Thursday, Nov. 10, at 10 a.m. Officiated by Terry Brown of Cuero.
