REFUGIO — It’s time once again to honor our community’s cancer survivors! The 2011 Joe Barber Relay For Life of Refugio County reception and dinner will be held at the Expo building at the fairgrounds on Saturday, Nov. 12.

This dinner is a time to honor all of the survivors of our community!

“We welcome all cancer survivors and their caretakers to join us for this evening!” said Monica Flores, chair.

Invitations have been sent to survivors registered in the county. However, if you did not received an invitation, are new to our community, or just haven’t had a chance to register, you are more than welcome to come on out and celebrate with us!

Every survivor is welcome to bring with them one complimentary guest who has shared in their cancer journey.

The families of those individuals who are being recognized as Memorial honorees and Survivor honorees for 2011, may bring up to 5 complimentary family members. Any additional guests may attend for a fee of $7 per person.

If you sent in your RSVP, you should have received meal tickets to be used the night of the event. If you have not received tickets, please contact Beth Linscomb at 361 526-5642.

Survivor and caretaker registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and includes dinner, door prizes, survivor and memorial honoree ceremonies, followed by a walk to the Relay track.

All survivors are invited to participate in the first lap around the track, which is meant to celebrate all of our cancer survivors!

Transportation to and around the Relay track will be provided for those needing assistance.

“We welcome you come out and share this evening with us and to bring your story!” Flores said. “There will be opportunities throughout the event to share these with us!”
